The attack occurred on Tuesday morning in Enarje Enawga district, Felege Berhan town of Gojam.
Witnesses told APA that the target of the attack was Gubae Mariam Elementary school.
Fano Yohannes Alemayehu, deputy public relation of Gojjam Fano forces, has confirmed the attack in social media. He added that one of the victims was a fano member who was in the area for work.
The unending drone strikes in the Amhara region of Ethiopia have continued with civilians being the major victims of the attacks.
The last four weeks saw intensified drone attacks in the region as government forces found it unrealistic to achieve what they called “final operation†to eliminate fano forces or at least to weaken them militarily and force them to negotiate.
Many fano leaders are vowing the government will never be able to defeat them. They are claiming that they have captured hundreds of government soldiers in the latest rounds of fighting in different parts of the Amhara region.
The Ethiopian government has not remarked about the drone attacks in Gojjam areas over the past few weeks.
What is known so far is that schools and centers were targeted. The victims were mostly civilians including women and children but the exact number of casualties is unspecified.
