Elon Musk's super PAC has spent more than $16 million in these 18 districts to keep the GOP in control of the House
Date: 2024-10-28
Elon Musk's super PAC, "America PAC," has spent over $120 million to try to elect Donald Trump.
The world's richest man, Musk has poured nearly $119 million of his own money into the group.
The super PAC's also supporting GOP candidates in more than a dozen House races.
Elon Musk's super PAC has already spent more than $120 million on electing Donald Trump, and he's spoken at two of the former president's rallies in the last month.
But Musk isn't just boosting Trump: the tech billionaire's "America PAC" has been wading into the fight for control of the House of Representatives for months.
As of October 28, America PAC has spent more than $16.1 million across 18 competitive House races, according to recent filings with the Federal Election Commission.
Musk has not responded to a request for comment, but in an interview with Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson in July, Musk said that his PAC was "not meant to be sort of a hyperpartisan PAC" and its goals were "promoting meritocracy" and promoting "freedom to operate, meaning the least amount of government intervention possible."
So far, America PAC has spent more than $120 million on the election, the vast majority of which has gone toward supporting Trump and opposing Vice President Kamala Harris.
But the spending on House races indicates that Musk's pivot toward the right isn't limited to Trump, and that he's invested in helping Republicans hold onto control of Congress as well.
The races where Musk's PAC is spending
According to recent FEC filings, Musk's PAC is spending heavily on both digital ads and canvassing operations.
In each instance, the PAC is spending money on efforts to boost the GOP candidate while going negative on the Democratic candidate.
