Major London venue adds to clue one of the biggest 00s bands is reuniting
Date: 2024-10-30
Fans have been left beyond excited after spotting a clue that one of the biggest bands of the 00s could be reuniting – and now it might have been revealed exactly which major venues they’ll be performing at.
The Scissor Sisters formed in 2000 and went on to win three Brit awards and be nominated for a Grammy before they announced an indefinite hiatus in 2012.
But there are rumours they could be making a huge comeback.
And fans are now convinced after a huge hint, spotted on the side of the Co-op Live arena in Manchester.
The venue has been plagued with delays and technical faults over the last year, with performances from acts including Olivia Rodrigo and British band Keane being postponed, while a series of shows by Take That were moved to the AO Arena in Manchester.
That’s not all as London’s The O2 fuelled speculation by tweeting out a photo of their venue with the band’s iconic logo at the top of a building.
Fans have been busy discussing speculation that the Scissor Sisters might be taking to the stage, after spotting the arena clues.
‘PSA: The Scissor Sisters are getting back together. Their logo is being displayed on the side of the Co-op Live as we speak. Chooooons,’ @TomYoungSJ shared on X.
‘On the side of the Co-op Live in Manchester. Are the Scissor Sisters coming back?’ @dnrhds also wrote.
‘Don’t get me excited now OMG!!!’ @Henry92589880 added.
The I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ hitmakers have also changed their Facebook and Instagram profile pictures to an image of TV static.
Frontman Jake Shears has previously spoken about creating new music, telling NME: ’I really want to make another Scissors record – I don’t know when that’s gonna be.’
He added: ‘I think everybody would need to want to do it. I don’t wanna twist anybody’s arm – that would just be no fun.’
He did however rule out the idea of reuniting for an anniversary tour, saying in 2021: ‘I don’t think I would be into that. I would want to make new music.’
The American band released their latest music in 2012 with their fourth and final studio album Magic Hour.
As well as Shears, the band consists of instrumentalist Babydaddy, Ana Matronic on vocals, Del Marquis on lead guitar, and Randy Real on drums (having replaced Paddy Boom).
In 2019, Shears spoke about the band going on hiatus, saying their hit Let’s Have a Kiki, which topped Billboard’s US Dance Club Songs list, ‘broke up the band’.
He told Gay Cities: ‘I truly had no idea what to follow that up with. So I thought, we’ve been recording and touring for 10 years, and I felt like it was time.
‘This wasn’t what anybody in the band had planned to do. So I thought it would be fun to end on a high note.
‘But you know what? That’s not to say we’re never going to do anything again.
‘The Scissor Sisters will be back.’
