Vice President Harris and former President Trump are campaigning in swing states Wednesday, finalizing their messages to voters with less than a week until Election Day.
Harris made her case Tuesday night in a Washington, D.C., speech that drew a crowd of 75,000 and hit Trump multiple times, calling him a “petty tyrant†and comparing him to “wannabe dictators.â€Â
Trump, who took the stage at the same time as the vice president, addressed supporters in Allentown, Pa., a majority-Latino city that is home to tens of thousands of Puerto Ricans. He ignored the backlash from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's joke at his Madison Square Garden rally, calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.â€
Harris and Trump's appearances on Wednesday come after President Biden sparked backlash when he appeared to compare Trump supporters to garbage. Biden has tried to clarify that he was referring to the controversial rhetoric at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally.
