ANISAH Ahmed tried to destroy the reputation of a barrister with whom she was having an affair through an elaborate and sinister scheme.

Her plans to destroy Iqbal Mohammed are explored in the ITV documentary The Real Fatal Attraction, a crime documentary that draws parallels between Ahmed’s crimes and Glenn Close’s character in the erotic thriller Fatal Attraction.

A LinkedIn connection

Iqbal remembers receiving a request to connect on LinkedIn from Ahmed, whose profile said that Anisah was a young lawyer from Oxford

Ahmed followed up her request with an email that included ten questions about Iqbal’s career history and his salary.

Iqbal deleted the messages because he thought they seemed “haughty”.

Ahmed tried again, three years later, by requesting to connect with the barrister on LinkedIn

This time, Iqbal accepted and a flirty exchange between the pair ensued.

Eventually, Iqbal decided to have an affair with Ahmed.

The affair takes a sinister turn

The affair lasted for nine months and Ahmed claims that she was unaware that Iqbal was married during this time.

The barrister had tied the knot with his wife in December 2013.

Furious at the discovery of his nuptials on social media, she contacted Iqbal’s wife and told her about the affair.

Ahmed’s plan didn’t stop there, though.

She forged emails from his work account and claimed that he was harassing her and told police that he was threatening to post intimate pictures of her online.

Her initial plan ended in failure and a criminal investigation into harassment began.

Ahmed’s final bid for revenge

Ahmed decided to take her plan one step further and falsely accused Iqbal of rape, which led to his arrest in his chambers in June 2015.

She also framed her own kidnapping and recruited an ex-boyfriend to help her in the sinister plot.

When her ex-boyfriend refused to stab her, as she had asked, she took matters into her own hands and plunged the knife into her thigh.

Ahmed told police that she had been kidnapped by a hitman who Iqbal had hired and mentioned her ex-lover’s name in the ambulance ride to the hospital after she had phoned the police and claimed to have escaped from a killer.

Eventually, her story fell apart under scrutiny and she was arrested before being handed a life sentence.

Ahmed’s lies are exposed

Iqbal has shared that he is grateful to his wife for being able to forgive him, after a period of separation.

It was revealed that everything Ahmed had told him was a lie.

Her stories of rescuing ten prisoners from the death penalty in Malawi were completely fake, just like her diploma in forensic medical science.

This discovery caused her to be disbarred in 2018.

Ahmed’s ex-boyfriend was given a suspended two-year sentence and was ordered to pay £2000 in prosecution fees, alongside his 150 hours of unpaid work.

The Real Fatal Attraction

Ahmed has been compared to Alex Forrest, the deadly ex-lover of Michael Douglas’ character in Fatal Attraction.

In the movie, Alex, played by Glenn Close, begins an affair with Michael’s character but becomes infuriated when he tries to call the ill-informed fling off.

Her bid to get revenge reaches a shocking height when Michael’s character comes home to find his girlfriend’s rabbit boiling in a pot on his stove.

The Real Fatal Attraction is an ITV documentary series that examines Ahmed’s criminal scheme.

The show will air on November 13, 2024, but viewers will be able to stream the show afterward on ITVX.
