A two-year-old tot was tragically killed in a horror collision at Rowley Close, near Wembley station, in London, at 6.45pm on Sunday evening.
A local told how neighbours have heard the boy’s mother “crying in her house since it happened”.
They told The Sun: “The toddler was just playing on the drive in front of the car.
“His uncle was in the car and just backed out while the child was still there.
“Everyone in the close can hear the mum crying in her house since it happened.”
Another neighbour told The Sun: “The boy’s mum was telling the driver to stop – but he still went.”
Families and toddlers frequently walk around the quiet residential area with the closest primary school being a four minute walk from the crash site.
There are no signs of police cordons or ambulance paraphernalia in the area and no tributes where the fatal incident unfolded.
Those leaving tributes on Facebook wrote: “That is so heartbreaking. Sending condolences to their family.
“RIP Angel.
“Very sad news, a parent’s worst nightmare.”
The driver of the car is currently being spoken to.
A spokesperson for the Met Police at 10am on Wednesday said: “There are no updates.
“The driver of the car is assisting police with their enquiries.”
Scotland Yard has been contacted for comment.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.58pm on Sunday to reports of an incident on Acton Lane.
“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer.
“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a child was pronounced dead at the scene.”
