Ex-President Donald Trump’s garbage truck stunt aimed at trolling President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris backfired as he missed the door handle a few times and appeared to nearly fall.

Trump, wearing a neon orange safety vest, upon arriving at the battleground state of Wisconsin on Wednesday walked to a white garbage truck and went for the cab door handle.

The first few moments didn’t go as smoothly as planned.

Trump reached for the handle three times and seemed to lose his balance before finally opening it and pulling himself up onto the seat.

The Republican candidate answered questions while sitting in the cab and leaning out the window in Green Bay.

‘How do you like my garbage truck?’ Trump asked reporters of the vehicle bearing his Make America Great Again campaign logo.

‘This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.’

The bizarre act was meant to hit back at Biden’s response to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage’. Hinchcliffe uttered the offensive remark at Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday.

‘The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,’ Biden said of MAGA fans in a call with Voto Latino Group on Tuesday, a week away from the US election.

Republicans immediately took Biden’s remark as labeling about half of America which supports Trump, ‘garbage’.

Biden that night took to X (formerly Twitter) in an attempt to clarify that he ‘referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporterat his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage’, and that ‘the comments at the rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation’.

Harris early Wednesday broke her silence by saying that Biden had ‘clarified his comments’ and that ‘I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for’.

But Trump and Republicans have continued to liken Biden’s comment to 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton saying at the time that half of Trump’s fans should be ‘put into the basket of deplorables’.

Speaking from the garbage truck, Trump blamed linked Harris to Biden’s controversial remark.

‘I think that the comment made by really both of them – because there are really two of them,’ Trump said, referring to Biden and Harris, ‘About being garbage, maybe 250million people. They shouldn’t be talking.

‘That’s like deplorable for Hillary, this is the deplorable for Hillary. And I think this is worse I actually.

‘For Joe Biden to make that statement, it’s really a disgrace.’
