Three children injured after land train topples over at Halloween event

Seven people including three children have been sent to hospital after a land train crashed in Cornwall.
Police were called to the scene at the Tregoad Holiday Park in St Martin, near Looe just before 7pm on Wednesday.
The Looe Land Train, being towed by a Land Rover Discovery, was carrying several passengers when the trailer toppled onto its side.
Four adults and three children have been sent to hospital, but police say their injuries aren’t considered life-changing or life-threatening.
The owners of the Looe Land Train business said they are ‘devastated’ by the crash and its upcoming Halloween activities have been cancelled.
Another 11 people either suffered minor injuries or were uninjured, but Devon and Cornwall Police have not yet confirmed these numbers.
Looe Land Train said on Thursday: ‘Looe Land Train was sadly involved in an accident, not involving any other vehicles, whilst at an event at Tregoad Holiday Park.
‘As a small, family owned and run business we are still in shock and our thoughts go out to all of those injured and impacted.
At this time, due to the ongoing investigation, we will not be adding further to this statement.
‘If you have booked tickets for October 31-November 3, for our Halloween Event, we will be making refunds within the next 48 hours.
‘Our heartfelt thoughts to those impacted by this terrible accident.’
In a previous statement issued by Welcome to Looe and Polperro, they said: ‘At this time, the cause of the accident is unknown. No other vehicles were involved.
‘We will be fully cooperating with any investigation by the authorities.
‘As a family business we are devastated by tonight’s accident and our thoughts are with all of those injured or impacted.’
Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Police investigating a serious road traffic collision at Tregoad Caravan and Camping Park near Looe are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
‘Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a Land Rover Defender towing a carriage containing passengers described as a land train in the caravan park at around 6.55pm.
‘Seven people, including three children were taken to Derriford Hospital for assessment and treatment. None of the injuries are considered to be life changing or life threatening.
‘Eleven people were discharged at the scene with either minor injuries or were uninjured.
‘The scene was attended by Cornwall Air Ambulance and two Coastguard helicopters were also dispatched, as well as the ambulance and fire services.
‘Officers from the Roads Policing Team carried out an investigation at the scene and would like to thank the public for their patience while the road was closed.’
