Carol Vorderman’s high-profile replacement on LBC radio show confirmed

Vanessa Feltz is replacing Carol Vorderman on her LBC Sunday slot.

The 63-year-old former Countdown star recently announced she has quit her radio show after suffering from burnout from working seven day weeks ‘for as long as I can remember’.

She ended up hospitalised overnight with scans revealing no underlying issues, and so Carol taken the health scare as a ‘warning sign’ to slow down.

Vanessa, 62, joined LBC in May fronting her own Saturday afternoon show, and she has been confirmed for a new role.

She said: ‘I can’t wait to be a weekend appointment to listen to. I’m looking forward to holding Britain’s biggest and most spirited conversation with my lovely LBC listeners every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.’

LBC’s senior managing editor Tom Cheal paid tribute to the way the presenter has settled into LBC over the past few months.

He added in a statement: ‘Vanessa has quickly made her mark on the LBC schedule since she joined the station in May.

‘She is a genuine, straight-talking and incisive broadcaster who has proved incredibly popular with LBC listeners and knows what really matters to them, so we are excited to announce her new Sunday show.’

Taking to Instagram earlier this month, Carol revealed she had cut back her working hours to just weekdays.

‘After working 7-day weeks for as long as I can remember, I finally burned out just over 2 weeks ago and I ended up overnight in hospital,’ she told her followers.

‘Luckily, after many scans and checks, we know that I don’t have any underlying health issues whatsoever.

‘So, after a proper talking to from my family and my buddies, I’ve taken the health scare as a warning sign to slow down slightly and have decided to cut my work back to weekdays for now.

‘It pains me to have to do it, but I’ve decided not to carry on with my Sunday show on @LBC.’

She teased that this move isn’t the end of her time at LBC – which started in January – there could be more projects in the future.

‘The good news is that I’ll still be part of the LBC family (they’re a good family) from time to time – so stand by for more details,’ she added.

In addition to her broadcasting work, Carol has increasingly turned to political activism, including criticising the previous Conservative government, and publishing her book Out Of Order: What’s Gone Wrong With Britain And One Woman’s Mission To Fix It.

Meanwhile, Vanessa started her career as a journalist before joining The Big Breakfast, and later fronting shows for the BBC, as well as appearing on the likes of Celebrity Big Brother.
