And pubs and bars often launch freebies and discounts to satisfy customers’ needs for cheap booze.

Now, the Three Lanterns in Leicester Square, London, is giving people the chance to bag a free pin to celebrate its opening this weekend.

The venue is giving away 3,000 pints of Guinness, or alcohol-free Guinness 0.0 starting today (November 3) until November 20.

The deal is running for the duration of the Rugby Autumn Internationals 2024.

Stephen Cooper, head of marketing at Social Pub and Kitchen, said: “What better way to celebrate the launch of The Three Lanterns than by hosting our biggest free pint giveaway yet!

“Guinness and rugby are one of the nation’s favourite combinations so during this year’s autumn internationals, make sure to get yourself down to The Three Lanterns for a hearty pint of stout on us.”

If Guinness isn’t for you, the pub, which is owned by the Stonegate group, also offers a range of craft beers, world beers, cider, and cocktails, as well as no and low options.

To claim the freebies, customers should have signed up to the pub’s mailing list by 4pm on November 1.

A confirmation email will then be sent to claim the free pint when you speak to a member of staff at the bar.

You can only get one voucher per person and it can only be used on Guinness or Guinness 0.0.

Punters will then have up until November 30 to claim the freebie.

If you missed out on this offer then don’t worry, there are still plenty of other ways to get a cheap pint.

Greene King is offering punters 20% off drinks at their local pub next week.

During the next round of Champions League matches – plus this week’s Premier League matches – football fans can get a drink at a discounted price.

To claim, simply download the Greene King Sport app, register your details, and visit your nearest sport pub.

You can find the offer in the Offer section of the app.

The offer is available from November 4 to 10 and only certain items are available in the deal, so make sure you check before you order at the bar.

How to save money buying alcohol

Alcohol can be pricey if you’re planning a party or hosting an event but there are ways to cut costs.

It’s always important to drink responsibly, here, Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements share some tips on getting booze for the best price.

Stocking up can mean big savings on drinks, especially if you want to buy wine or fizz.

The big supermarkets regularly offer discounts of 25% when you buy six or more bottles of wine. The promotions typically run in the lead up to occasions such as Bank Holidays, Christmas and Easter.

If you know you are going to need booze later in the year, it can be worth acting when you see offers.

Before buying your preferred drink make sure you shop around to find the best price – you can use a comparison site such as pricerunner.com or trolley.co.uk.

Don’t forget that loyalty cards can unlock better savings so make sure you factor that in too.

If you like your plonk, wine clubs can also be a good way to save money and try new varieties. You’ll usually have to pay a membership fee in return for cheaper price so work out if you will be buying enough to make the one off cost worthwhile.
