In an interview with Cathy shared on WWE’s social media accounts, KO said: ‘Two days ago we got here in Saudi Arabia and we’re told “Hey we’ve got some great activities lined up in the desert, go out and enjoy yourself”.
‘And what happened? We got into a dune buggy and we flipped, we rolled over several times.’
Despite the accident being genuine, Owens, 40, found a way to tie it into tonight’s show and his ongoing storyline with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.
‘We were in a car accident two days ago and you know why? Because I have no doubt that driver was paid off by Randy Orton or Cody Rhodes to make that happen,’ he added.
‘Because everyone is against me, do you know that? Everyone is against me, ever since I attacked the little golden boy Cody Rhodes. “Oh no you can’t touch Cody”, “Not Cody”, but I did and he deserved it.
‘None of this is my fault, so tonight they’re making me do something I don’t want to do they’re making me fight my friend Randy Orton. I loved Randy Orton. Randy what happens tonight is your fault.’
When a fan suggested Kelly, 36, was trying not to laugh during the interview, she replied: ‘Nah man… not this time. actually holding back tears and trying to stay professional.’
Sharing a video of the wreckage, she added: ‘Easily the most terrifying moment of my life 😫’
She also revealed that Owens’ immediate thought was to ‘protect’ her, while she referenced his storyline comments by implying Orton or Rhodes could have been behind the incident.
She wrote: ‘Whatever you think about @FightOwensFight, his first instinct was to protect me. if his instinct says someone paid off the driver…’
On this evening’s show in Riyadh, KO will be in action against Orton in a grudge match, while Rhodes faces GUNTHER to determine the first ever Crown Jewel Champion.
