Kemi Badenoch appoints Chris Philp as shadow home secretary

New Tory leader sets out her full shadow cabinet

Kemi Badenoch has appointed the former policing minister Chris Philp as shadow home secretary and Alex Burghart as her de-facto deputy, as the new Tory leader set out her full shadow cabinet.

The shadow cabinet’s first meeting will take place on Tuesday morning, which will see some continuity – including James Cartlidgee as shadow defence secretary and Claire Coutinho as shadow energy and shadow equalities, who had been tipped for a bigger promotion.
