Iconic alcoholic drink will be back on shelves soon after being discontinued three years ago

A POPULAR coffee liqueur is returning to shelves after Bacardi axed it three years ago.
Liqueur lovers were left in shock when the drinks brand revealed it was stopping production of its popular Patrón XO Cafe tipple.
At the time, Bacardi’s chief operating offer said the company was ditching the tipple to focus on “core super and ultra premium tequilas”, but fuming fans found the news hard to follow.
A Change.org petition was even launched to get Bacardi to reverse its decision.
But those disappointed drinkers are now able to enjoy their favourite beverage again.
Patrón XO is now available to order at 24 branches of The Alchemist across the country.
The bar chain has sites in cities including London, Birmingham and Leeds.
It is available to buy as a single shot, or you can order a Patrón Solar Board – six shots paired with salted caramel caviar.
The board will cost £38 outside of London and £44 at bars in the capital.
The Sun has asked The Alchemist how much a single shot costs and we will update this article once we hear back.
If you don’t live near a branch of The Alchemist then don’t worry because Patrón XO is set to return to supermarket shelves next year, according to The Grocer.
Fans of the drink have taken to social media to share their delight at the news that it’s making a comeback.
Double Diamond was first brewed in 1876 as an Indian Pale Ale.
It was so popular that it was advertised in Piccadilly Circus and used the slogan “A Double Diamond works wonders.â€
After selling more than 50million pints in a single year it was almost nationalised in the 1960s.
The new iteration of Double Diamond will take inspiration from the original 1922 IPA but will be made using an all-new recipe.
The beer has an ABV of 3.8% and is made with Citra, Columbus and Mosaic hops.
Jamie Allsopp, who now runs the family brewery, said: “Double Diamond is our A-list star.
“This sessionable Pale Ale is the next iteration of Double Diamond and we hope will find a place in the affections of new drinkers, as well as those that haven’t tasted it in 30 years.â€
Alcohol can be pricey if you’re planning a party or hosting an event but there are ways to cut costs.
It’s always important to drink responsibly, here, Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements share some tips on getting booze for the best price.
Stocking up can mean big savings on drinks, especially if you want to buy wine or fizz.
The big supermarkets regularly offer discounts of 25% when you buy six or more bottles of wine. The promotions typically run in the lead up to occasions such as Bank Holidays, Christmas and Easter.
If you know you are going to need booze later in the year, it can be worth acting when you see offers.
Before buying your preferred drink make sure you shop around to find the best price – you can use a comparison site such as pricerunner.com or trolley.co.uk.
Don’t forget that loyalty cards can unlock better savings so make sure you factor that in too.
If you like your plonk, wine clubs can also be a good way to save money and try new varieties. You’ll usually have to pay a membership fee in return for cheaper price so work out if you will be buying enough to make the one off cost worthwhile.
