‘There’s a new curse!’ rage Strictly fans after JB Gill ends up in shock dance off
Date: 2024-10-21
STRICTLY Come Dancing fans have been left convinced that the show has a brand new curse after the latest dance-off.
JLS singer JB Gill found himself in the bottom two of this week’s episode of Strictly in one of the most shocking results of the series so far.
The popstar and his partner, Amy Dowden, performed a Jive to Hey Ya! by Outkast but failed to win the votes of the British public.
It meant that they had to dance once again facing off against Paul Merson and his pro Karen Hauer.
The judges unanimously chose to save JB amid the surprise outcome of the vote.
However, eagle-eyes fans have been quick to point out a worrying ‘curse’ that they think proves why JB found himself dancing for survival.
During Saturday night’s show, JB and Amy performed first ahead of their fellow couples.
It sparked some viewers to cast their minds back to the previous week when another fan favourite, singer and actor Shayne Ward, also found himself surprisingly in the bottom two after also having performed first.
Both performers also found themselves falling in the middle of the leaderboard, something that Craig Revel Horwood was quick to pick up on.
Commenting on the coincidence online, fans labelled it a new “curse” to hit the ballroom floor.
One BBC viewer said: “Crazy how JB danced first last night and in the dance off, and Shayne ward danced first last week and too himself there. Going first is a curse lol.”
Another added: “Ooh thats a bit of a shock, but i think sometimes opening the show can put you in a risky positon. Easy to forgot the first couple especially if they fall in the middle of the leaderboard.”
A third penned: “Going first is a proper curse this series.”
Before a fourth went on to say: “Voters with goldfish memories yet again. Two weeks in a row. The curse of first.”
Although the vote was a clear-cut with all four choosing in JB’s favour, Shirley admitted she saw the star make a few mistakes whilst Anton slammed his poor dance-off and admitted he wanted to save Paul and Karen but could not do so as their dance was “clean”.
Taking a swipe at JB, he revealed the decision should have been “easy” but JB’s mishaps made it harder.
After Paul was revealed to have exited the contest, he told show host Tess Daly: “It’s been really good.
“For anybody I talk to, I would say you’ve got to go on this show. It’s amazing – everybody.
“There’s a Tottenham fan over there called Lincoln and even he’s nice! It’s been amazing, honestly, amazing. I loved every minute of it, I’ve had a great teacher.”
He went onto add of his pro partner Karen: “She’s been amazing, absolutely amazing and I couldn’t wish for a better coach. I’ve loved every minute of it.”
