Suspected gunman tackled to the ground after two killed at Halloween celebration

Two people have been killed and six others injured after a gunman opened fire on Halloween revellers.

Footage shows people running for their lives on Orange Avenue in Orlando, Florida.

A large crowd of up to 100,000 people were gathered in the area for the Halloween celebrations.

Jaylen Dwayne Edgar, 17, has been arrested with footage showing him being tackled by police.

Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said: ‘He pretty much walked into downtown, walked into the street and did what he did.

‘Shortly after reported shots fired, a shooting suspect was located and taken into custody at Washington and Orange.’

The ages of the victims range from 19 to 39-years-old, Smith said.

He added the dead and injured had not yet been identified and families continue to be informed.

The individuals injured are in a stable condition, police confirmed.

Orlando Police said: ‘The Orlando Police Department is conducting a shooting investigation in Downtown Orlando.

‘We are still gathering information and interviewing witnesses. We will have more information later this morning.’ 

Revellers wearing Halloween costumes had been out partying before the horror unfolded.

Police were already present and ran towards the gunfire, with the only shots being fired by the suspect.
