Homes have been evacuated near a train station in Scotland after a suspicious item was discovered in a block of flats.

Properties surrounding Overtoun Court in Dalmuir, Clydebank, have been evacuated after the item was found in the tower block.

ScotRail trains through Dalmuir station will be cancelled or delayed after the incident this afternoon while people were asked to stay away from the area.

Police Scotland said in a statement: ‘Officers searching a property in Overtoun Court in Clydebank, as part of an ongoing investigation, have discovered a suspect item.

‘EOD has been informed and several surrounding properties are being evacuated as a precaution. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area.’

And trains are back up and running between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth following a train crash in which a passenger died on October 21.
